◉ FIELD TOUR
We have two options on our field tour.
(1)Private Charter Bus Tour (Uji, Fushimi, Kyoto Bamboo Park)
We will tour the Uji and Fushimi areas by chartered bus. Participants will travel according to the schedule determined by the organizing committee.
In Uji region, we learn about the area’s history connected to literature, as well as topics related to rivers and disaster prevention. We also gain knowledge about the cultivation of tea, a local specialty, and the culture and tourism associated with it.
・Main destinations) Byodoin Temple, Ujigami Shrine, Uji River, “Chazuna”(Museum of Uji Tea Culture)
Fushimi area served as Kyoto’s port hub in the early modern period, flourishing as a logistics center. It also became one of Japan’s leading clusters for sake brewing, an industry closely tied to transportation. We can learn about waterways used for tourism, cultural landscapes, the history of flood damage, and disaster prevention.
・Main destinations) Fushimi Sake District, Fushimi Canal and Jikkoku-bune Boat, Scenic Improvement District
We will also visit Kyoto Bamboo Park. Bamboo groves are connected to Japan’s history and living culture, and we can learn about them at the museum. The culture of utilizing bamboo is shared throughout the Asian region, allowing us to reaffirm our cultural ties.
(2)Self-Guided Tour
We will provide participants with information about excursions in the Kyoto area. Participants will arrange their own destinations and schedules for their excursions.
The tour explores approaches to sustainable tourism and cultural preservation in Kyoto. The organizing committee provides comprehensive learning about Kyoto’s historical changes and landscape conservation, avoids crowded tourist spots, and offers information on sites of academic value.
