解説

A sobatsugi 側次 is a sleeveless happi. It is worn by warriors and Chinese figures, both male and female. On this sobatsugi, the cobblestone squares form a checkerboard arrangement with alternate squares being gold or a color, such a blue, green, or pale blue. The colored squares have gold motifs representing various Buddhist treasures. (MB)
