女面の中で最も若い小面は、シテ（金剛、金春、喜多）とツレ（各流派）の両方に使用される。使用範囲が広いため、この面には多くのバリエーションがあるが、この面には、基本的な表現がよくなされている。丸みを帯びた微笑をたたえた顔、弓形に傾斜した目、高く描かれたぼかしの入った眉、巻き上がった唇、黒く塗られた歯などである。この仮面の髪の毛の表現は、他の女面のそれとは異なり、頬に垂れ下がる3本の緩やかな毛束は、黒く塗り分けられた分け目から筆で描かれたものではなく、彫り出されている。
The youngest of the women's mask, Ko-omote is used for both shite (Kongō, Konparu, Kita) and tsure roles (all schools). The range of use has produced number of variations of the mask, but the basic iconography is well represented here: plump, smiling face with curved, slanted eyes, high, fuzzy repainted eyebrows, curling lips, and blackened teeth. The hair rendering differs from other women's masks in having the three loose strands cascading down the cheeks incised out of the black parted hair rather than painted with a brush. (MB)
