- Through this portal you can search for pre-modern Japanese books on open access across the Web, as well as the books in the ARC’s collections or on deposit with the ARC. Currently more than 300,000 works are accessible.
- When search results come up, if there is a live button in the ARC column and an image in the thumbnail column, you can view the book through the ARC page viewer. Clicking on the live button will take you to the first image of the book; clicking on the thumbnail image will open a thumbnail view of the entire book. If those two columns are blank, click on the ‘outside link’ button to access the book through the holding institution’s own online database.
- You may register to be a member of the International Joint Digital Archiving Center (ARC IJAC). As a member you will have access to more of the functions available through our databases such as our AI Transcription System, ImageNotes, and UserMemo. You will be able to access the books held by the National Institute of Japanese Literature, the National Diet Library and other institutions through the ARC page viewer.
- If you only want to see the books in the Ritsumeikan ARC collection, please use this link.
- We have launched the ARC Classics Digital Research Institute. Please make use of it.
