| 組解説:Such engravings were usually made in memory of a deceased actor. There is the same representation of the actor in an engraving from the series Comparisons of the Five Elements, in which the actor Bandō Shûka portrays the nun Seigen, and the cancelled background is now a landscape in that work. Bandō Shuka died in 3-1855, and old woodblock prints were reused to commemorate his death. |
